Yes, Eleven35 films weddings. And we aren't planning on quitting anytime soon. Because, really, under very few other circumstances do we get to work outside, surrounded by beautiful scenery and people who are in there to celebrate the best parts of life, have great food, cold drinks... oh, and we get to work for clients who couldn't be more excited about the day. It's the ultimate work environment. And this year, so far, has been exceptional. Each of our wedding clients has been wonderful, full of excitement, relaxed, gracious, welcoming, and noticeably appreciative of our presence and our work. It's been great.
But filming weddings is hard. And on top of that, filming weddings WELL is is exceptionally difficult and takes skill and diligence (Skiligence). There are no re-do's in a wedding. Especially during the ceremony, everything has to work! Or else.
And thanks mostly to the increased number of weddings we've been doing this year, I've been able to hire Katie Fox, a film & media major from Cornerstone University in Grand Rapids, to come on board and work with me. She's great and will ensure that we can continue to take on more and more work without having our progressive standard of quality slip or slow.
I knew I had to hire someone sooner or later because Eleven35 is not a factory, we're not an assembly line where we can get clients, film, edit, and pump out work with some sort of quick formula. Each wedding, like each production, is very different and must approached, filmed, and edited accordingly. But of course this takes a lot of time. Much more time than one person has in a summer, especially since weddings are only a small part of what Eleven35 does.
But with new equipment, fresh knowledge and skill, new techniques, and some fresh faces, I don't think I could feel more confident and excited about the wedding films we'll be putting out this year, and next year too, for that matter! We're in the process of editing many weddings even this week, and we'll have some samples up soon for viewing. But! Until then, We have some photos, courtesy of the skilled work of Cory Weber and Kelsey Callihan, to give you something to look at.
